Black looks at Transformers 2

The stars were out for the London premiere of Transformers 2 the other night, and it looks like everybody got the memo: Megan Fox (above, with co-star Shia LeBoef), VV Brown and, er, Kate from The Apprentice all turned up in black from head to toe. Not very summery, but it is an eveningwear staple and, we hear, coming back in a big way for autumn/winter.

Inspired? Not quite red carpet wear but very chic nonetheless are figleaves' own Grecian maxi dress, £30, and Savannah sleeveless dress, £70. Lingerie note: Fancy showing off your back tattoo like Megan? A backless bra is a good idea.

Green goddess

Going down a storm on the Cannes red carpet this week and looking a million dollars is Rachel Weisz - she does all her own nude scenes, notes the Daily Mail approvingly. No prizes for guessing her new favourite colour: whether she's stepping out in slit-to-the-thigh Valentino, left, or olive Christian Dior, right, she's clearly backing all shades of green this season. Sheer tights are sheer glamour

Anne Hathaway outshone the competition (Demi Moore, Kate Hudson, Rachel Weisz) at the Cartier 100th anniversary party last week thanks to her ultra-short mini-dress. The mini is clearly having a moment, but what to wear with it? We'll be taking style tips from Ms Hathaway this summer and stepping out in sheer black tights under our mini-dresses for evening: chic, flattering, does away with the need to grapple with the fake tan, and, if you choose a control top pair, they'll double up as body-shapers too.

Star Trekking

The celebs were out in force for the UK premiere of the new Star Trek movie in London last night - and it's full marks to Thierry Henry's ex wife Claire Merry for taking the theme literally and rocking up in this silver and black ensemble. As it happens, she's not so wide of the mark: there's a space age feel to much of this season's high fashion, with catsuits, exaggerated shoulders and high-shine metallics featuring on many of the spring/summer catwalks. Fancy giving it a go? O Beach's silver cutaway swimsuit will bring a Star Trek spirit to the beach this summer; top it off with Speedo's silver swim cap.

The one-shoulder dress that rocked

A celeb trend today. Here are Gemma Arterton (right) and Talulah Riley (nope, me neither) at the Martini world premiere party for new Richard Curtis movie The Boat That Rocked. On this evidence, it looks as though the asymmetric look is here to stay - so if you have any glam nights out planned, be prepared to bare your better shoulder. Underneath? We'd recommend investing in a strapless bra.

In neutral

Camel, blush, beige, champagne... whatever you like to call them, neutral shades were very much in evidence at the Oscars on Sunday, and here they are again on Carla Gugino at the Watchmen premiere last night. They're all over the shop for daywear too this season - so what to wear underneath? You won't go wrong with a nude bra - and, since this season's neutrals seem to be of the delicate, wafty variety, a little lace wouldn't go amiss either. Try Chantelle's Rive Gauche range, Elle Mac's pretty Virtuo, or Just Peachy's lace balconette.

A toast to milk

 Whether you stayed up all night to catch Kate finally enjoying her moment or if you're simply enjoying all the coverage today, here's a random, Oscar-inspired trend just for fun. Sean Penn (pictured here at the NY premiere) scooped Best Actor for his turn in the movie Milk - and milk (I swear I am not making this up) just happens to be one of this season's under-the-radar trends for lingerie. Creamy shades of buttermilk turned up in the spring collections of DM and Mimi Holliday, among others - a delicate alternative to the season's zingy brights.

Black lace is back...

... well, it would be fairer to say that it never went away. Here's Penelope Cruz at Spanish film awards ceremony 23 Premios Goya the other day proving that one of winter's biggest style hits is still going strong as we edge into the new season. It's a look that's made for Valentines lingerie, of course; below, a few of our favourite sets in black lace and embroidered mesh from Aubade, Simone Perele and Empreinte.

Listen to your bra

Revolutionary Road news today - here's Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio at the UK premiere in London last night. Now you might think that this is our cue to recommend a good style of bra if, like Kate, you're wearing some kind of crossover-style frock. Fact is, we're stumped - lots of fashion tape, perhaps? Anyway, the real lingerie news concerns Kathy Bates, who also appears in the film. How did she get into character? "Kathy Bates listened to her bra," says The Kansas City Star. It all starts with the clothes, apparently, and it was Bates' Fifties-style brassiere that told her all about the character.

LiLo spotted in Huit swim

Lindsay Lohan (pictured here at the opening of the Atlantis in Dubai last year) hit the beach over the new year in a very chic black bikini - turns out it's by one of our favourite brands, French label Huit. As featured on InStyle's website yesterday, it's from last year's spring/summer collection and sadly no longer available, but here are some of Huit's newly-arrived resort looks to make up for it.
