Spare a thought for the people of Southend. The town tried to entice 1,923 bikini wearers to its beach yesterday in order to smash the world record for the world's largest swimwear shoot, reports The Times, but could only muster 45 thanks to a dreary weather forecast - so the record established in Sochi on the Black Sea last year still stands.
Still, we can cheer ourselves up with some new swimwear arrivals - this black and gold Freya bikini would make a glam contribution to next year's effort, we think.
