Quiksilver in Tatler

Tatler_cover Tatler_full Quiksilver

Tatler goes gaga for Sam Branson (son of Richard) this month - he's just back from a polar expedition, apparently. Not much call for these Quiksilver shorts in the Arctic, I imagine, but doesn't he model them well?

Mary Green in Marie Claire online

Dear_santa_2 More Mary Green in the press... this time, it's the Dear Santa set of silk boy shorts (£70), each embroidered with a festive wish, adorning the Marie Claire online Christmas gift guide.

Here's the Mary Green Panty Fortunes again, this time in Seventeen's "gifts for you" page. Dancing, dreaming, or chocolate... remember, only your knickers have the answer. $84 for a pack of seven.

Elsewhere in the magazine: recommendations for cone-shaped women include Wacoal's lace minimizer bra, $56.

Taffy the pants-scoffing dog and singing knickers

  • Spare a thought for Taffy the dog - the 18 month old pooch from Tamworth, Staffordshire, had to undergo emergency surgery after eating his 40th pair of underpants, reports the BBC.
  • Paris Hilton goes out in her nightie! Some pics in the Daily Mail.
  • Stars without their underwear: the story that just won't die. Christina Aguilera is the latest, says the Australian Daily Telegraph.
  • Phrase of the day? "Singing knickers". It's how critics of Russia's "feeble" music industry refer to lip-synching girl groups, says the St Petersburg Times.

Shapewear for feminists, Camisole Day and flaming lingerie

  • No let-up for this year's shapewear mania - The Guardian today debates whether or not you can squish yourself into a pair of Spanx and still be considered a feminist. Conclusion? Shapewear is a betrayal of the sisterhood but the alternative ain't pretty.
  • Stripping to your underwear is the latest thing for political activists, it seems. Hot on the heels of the Senator On-Line party in Western Australia, anti-nuclear protesters showed off their undies at a conference on nuclear arms in Israel last Thursday, reports the Associated Press.
  • In a whole new twist on burning your bra, a K-Mart store in Orange County was evacuated yesterday when a customer set some lingerie on fire, says local6.com.
  • Working at Audrey Underwear in Taiwan is not for the shy. Fox News reports that when 21 November was designated Camisole Day, workers were asked to turn up in their underwear - and 90 per cent of them did.

You can't fault Ultimo's timing - just as we're all enjoying former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson in the Australian jungle, what should arrive in the figleaves.com warehouse but Ultimo's new D-G brand fronted by none other than Jungle Gemma? Sleek and Smooth bra, left, £26; Cabaret padded plunge bra, right, £28.
