Today's fascinating underwear fact: Never mind the invention of the printing press; literacy improved in the Middle Ages thanks to discarded underwear, reports science blog Omni Brain. All to do with the fact that early books were printed on cheap rags (ie. old undies), apparently.
So should we all be chucking out our knickers in order to raise literacy levels today? Well, we'd certainly be a whole lot better at spelling Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana and Diesel if we had some discarded logo waistbands to learn from.
