Who needs a man? Not the Pussycats

Marlies_1

Don't need a man? Neither does lead Pussycat Doll Nicole Sherzinger, pictured here wearing Marlies Dekkers in the Dolls' new video (for 'I don't need a man', obviously). It's all about a woman who likes to feel sexy for her own pleasure - just what Marlies Dekkers, with its modern cuts and signature strap details, is all about too.

House of Bamboo

Bamboo roofs and bamboo walls, they've even got a bamboo... vest. Bamboo, we're told, is the world's fastest growing plant and can be grown without chemical fertilisers or pesticides - which makes it a thoroughly good thing for the environment. So why not wear it? Stella McCartney has used bamboo in her latest collection for Adidas; Ted Baker too has some camisoles featuring this environmentally friendly grass. Looking ahead to spring 07: expect some great bamboo camis and shorts by Ballet.

Lost in a Masquerade

Masquerade_1

Oh to be a DD+ size. Larger cup lingerie is just getting better and better, no? The latest brand to enter the fashion fray is Masquerade, brought to you by the experts at Panache. This teal satin set caught the eye of Stefan Lindemann, shopping editor of UK glossy weekly Grazia, who made it one of his picks of the season. "Teal, what a brilliant colour! Especially if you have an olive or even darker skin tone. And it gives you a perfect lift too," he raved.

Animal Magic

Here's an image to make you feel all warm and happy inside - in further proof of her recovery, Kylie Minogue looks wonderful snapped at the Dolce & Gabbana show in Milan yesterday. How glam does she look in this season's animal prints? We're loving them for lingerie too - Dolce & Gabbana (of course) does a nice set.

Storm in a G cup

It's said that over 70 per cent of British women are wearing the wrong size bra (a fact that figleaves.com fitting supremo Carlotta Ghigi, who spends all day measuring women in our fitting lab, can confirm) but you would expect a lingerie designer to fall into the other 30 per cent. Not so Katie Price, who has teamed up with Panache to design her own range of lingerie. The Sun gleefully reports today that Katie has been wearing the wrong size bra - a 32DD - for years. Luckily the professionals at Panache have put her right - she is in fact a 30G. [The Sun]

This week: lingerie grows up and Jade's new job

  • Goodbye boys: lingerie is all grown up now says the International Herald Tribune.
  • Jade Jagger is the face of Adore Moi, Debenhams' new lingerie line by Michelle Mone of Ultimo fame.[Hello]
  • She's making a recovery but the same could not be said of her lingerie range - retailers drop Love Kylie in the singer's native Australia. [AHN]

On the catwalk: Charnos

Charnos_1

Charnos: what went right? Not only is the brand turning out some of the prettiest, most on trend (and most reasonably priced) lingerie on the market right now, but it's demonstrating a seriously good eye for fashion too. The new Skin Visible range appeared on the catwalk at London Fashion Week - but not just in any old catwalk show. No, only the best for Charnos - the lingerie was worn under the dazzling, Versace-inspired collection of young Scottish designer Christopher Kane, who emerged as the name to watch during the week.

As seen in Vogue: Scarlett's silver knickers

Vogue_1

Who's this gracing the October issue of Vogue in a deluxe pair of silver Frost French knickers? Only the magnificent Scarlett Johansson, fresh from a triumphant Venice Film Festival and rave reviews for her performance in Black Dahlia.

Biography

A former fashion journalist (for Time Out and The Guardian among others), I now have a new favourite subject - lingerie. As web editor at figleaves.com I look after the editorial pages on the site and get to spend my working day talking about knickers, bras and which bikini brand gives the best bottom coverage. I've tried on many bras in my two years here but my favourite so far has got to be the Muse push-up bra by Huit.
